My pup Jasmine- watercolor painting

Everyone loves their  pet, I am no exception to this...Meet Jasmine the wonderfully awesome dog I am blessed to have! 

Well, after thumbing through Instagram for a bit one evening I was inspired to do a water color study of my pup. Here is how it progressed....

First I did a light pencil sketch to get the image maped out on the page. Also did a small color test on the opposite page. 

After things were planned out a bit  I started lightly laying down the water color.

Then added some very watered down color to get a light foggy background.

It was then time to get some value put into the image, so I started in with the darks.

If you look under her chin you can see the green grass causing a bit of a green bounce light in her white fur. so I added a bit of that in.

More detailing and then...

started painting in her baby blue eyes.

The value of my water color is no where close to my photo, but well...it is water color after all. 

I think my interpretation of the photo shows my pups character pretty good :)
